Depot Days

Description

The city of Newbern celebrates its long-running railroad history during the Depot Days. Centered around the preservation of the Historic Newbern Depot and strongly supported by the local community, this annual event is a month-long commemoration that begins on the third Saturday of September.

The festival took root in 1992 after the City of Newbern purchased the old Illinois Central Depot and decided to raise funds for its renovation. Shortly after, it was recognized by the Tennessee Historical Commission and placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The festival is held on Tennessee SR 211, home to the future 1-69, at the point where the Historic City of New Orleans Railway passes through Newbern.
